You Nazi's crashed down our doors.
For "safety" our guns and
families you
did store.
Whereupon, you delivered us to
death's door.
your ink again runs to take our guns.
Beware, you Nazi's of today.
you shall greet death's door.
Signed:
"...shall not be infringed".
================================
Well, what do you think?
Sound good? Sound extreme? Hope we "don't get there"? It's
irrelevant - it's too late?
The above "poem" is
easily stated. It reflects some history, and may reflect what many are
thinking. Personally, I hope we "don't get there".
Here are a few comments. There are some
problems with the "poem". First, words are easily said. Second, some
"pro-gun" activists use similar language as a means to "bail
out" of doing any real work. Yes, I am talking about the "we'll
shoot'em when they come for our guns - no point in doing anything - it's all
over", crowd. If the 2nd Amendment is actually called upon, my bet
is that most of those guys/gals won't be there when the bullets
start flying. Why? Because if they didn't have enough belief in the
Constitutional Republic to actually bother doing something when it was relatively
"safe" (e.g., actually walk the streets for pro-gun candidates, educating
themselves and others, making telephone calls, attending meetings, reading their
ballots, VOTING, etc...), what makes you
think they will be there when "hell" is being visited upon
America?
This brings us to another point
about the 2nd Amendment. We must recognize that merely having firearms,
ammunition, and training is not enough to protect our Freedom. The Individual Right to Keep and Bear
Arms is not
merely a "Right", it is "Your Duty". As such,
obligations accompany that Right which go much deeper than merely owning firearms. Yes,
the Right
includes your DUTY to learn how to use your weapons safely and effectively.
But it also encompasses a DUTY extending beyond the mere "physical"
attributes of owning and shooting. We have a DUTY to teach both ourselves and
others about the BILL OF RIGHTS. After all, the Second Amendment
is there for the purpose of protecting our Rights and Freedoms when all other
legal avenues and remedies have failed. A key purpose of the Individual Right
to Keep and Bear Arms is to act as a bulwark against government tyranny and oppression.
Thus, we have a DUTY to learn about the very subjects for which the Second
Amendment stands as armed guardian.
Our educational systems are failing
our youth. Unless people know their rights, they will not
"miss" what they didn't know to exist. But, the sad reality is that
"gun
owners" are not doing their job very well either. It is boasted that we have 80 plus
million guns owners in the USA. So what! What are they doing?
Where are they? Many are lazy and don't care about freedom to begin
with. Maybe they are a lost cause. Still others view the
Second Amendment as being there to "protect" their "sport" or
"hunting" activities. We need a wake up call. A primary purpose behind the Second
Amendment is to act as a final bulwark and safeguard against government
tyranny and oppression, when all else has failed. Thus, although numerically "counted" as a
gun owners, the reality is that the "sport /
hunting philosophy" serves to undermine the
foundational safeguard of our Constitutional Republic and the Bill of
Rights. The philosophy is nothing less than an attempt at "political
correctness". It is pushed by organizations because it fits nicely into
the current Collective Mind Think
- "Thou Shall Not Offend". However, it serves the enemies of
Freedom and Liberty by trivializing the subject which is central to the 2nd
Amendment. Thus, instead of the debate being directed at the potentially
deadly force of government tyranny and oppression, the subject is deflected,
focusing upon the "reasonableness" of laws dealing with deadly
instruments which are used "merely" for sport or hunting. It is
submitted that even arguments focusing entirely upon firearms being necessary
for personal defense against criminals is jeopardizing the protections
afforded by the 2nd Amendment. In such context, arguments are made that a
military type "assault" rife is not necessary against a
"mere" burglar or murderer of one. In the meantime, the
foundational safeguard against government tyranny and oppression is being
stripped away by the very governments which are supposed to be at the
"business end" of the 2nd Amendment.
Thus, in order to win our battle
for Freedom and Liberty, we need to deal with what the 2nd Amendment is
really about. We need to all be playing the same song. We must educate not only "non
believers", but those who purport to be "believers".
Hopefully, we in America will
not have to reach the situation described in the last sentence in the above
"poem". We have an obligation to work hard,
within the system of government we have (our Constitutional Republic).
We must educate our children, ourselves, other adults, and yes, even people
who should know better - gun owners. We must spread the news by billboards,
radio ads, posters,
newspapers, the internet, T-shirts, ... any means
available. We must be politically active, walk the streets, campaign ... and
VOTE. We must try to get people to think. We must help defray the legal
costs of those defending and prosecuting pro-2nd Amendment matters in the
courts. We must keep pressure on our elected representatives, and all
government servants. If every day, we do at least one small thing for our 2nd
Amendment, we can make a difference. But, we must all be playing the same
theme song.
Then, in time, if we are not
successful, and the 2nd Amendment must actually be called into play (as a last
resort), at least we will have done everything in our power to avoid what will
be a living hell. But by then, 80+ Million Americans will be playing the same
song. By then 80+ Million Americans will know what to do.
Yours in Liberty,
Save Our Guns
