Letter from a Patriotic Gun Store in California to Smith

Subject: Future sales.
Dear Mr. Schultz,
I am greatly disappointed in your decision to
capitulate to the
Clinton/Gore dog and pony show. I have been in the retail firearms
business for the last 14 years. I have steadfastly promoted your product
as being an example of American know-how and pride. That has suddenly
changed. As the president of my company I make the decisions about
product lines. I am going to take a poll of my customers and find out if
they are interested in buying your product after your decision. Today's
poll is decidedly against you. Many of my customer think that your
decision was weak and short sighted. They ask if you have ever noticed
that the anti-gunners never stop taking and never give anything back.
I do not know what percentage of your sales come from civilians,
but
I think it will be hard to replace those sales once lost. There are many
manufacturers who make excellent quality firearms for less money than
S&W. I have always sold S&W products on the concept of "pride of
ownership". I fear that this will be much harder to do from now on.
Additionally, I will simply not abide by the conditions that your
company has agreed to in order to sell S&W products. I wish you the best
of luck with your new found friends.
Very truly yours,
